The crew of DK257 got airborne at 23.45 on the 13th July 1943 from Middleton St.George.
Outbound at 16,000 feet, shot down by a night-fighter near Tilburg (Noord Brabant) and crashed 0200 at Genderen, 6 km NNE of Waalwijk.
Both Air Gunners are commemorated on the Runnymede Meorial. 
           
           
           Sgt D.Brown was interned in Camps L6/357. PoW No.375. 
           F/O F.H.Ditchburn in Camp L3, PoW No.1771 with F/L D.S.Morgan, PoW No.1782. 
           P/O B.L.Gillis (promoted to F/O during captivity) in Camps L6/L3, PoW No.389.
