Harris Visit's Pocklington

Around 22.34 on the night of the 4th of May 1943, a 102 Squadron plane W7820 took off on a bombing mission to Dortmund.

Aboard were:
F/S J. Bowman
Sgt H.R. Mock
Sgt D. Galbraith
Sgt J.H. Loveless
Sgt G.C. Perry
Sgt J.J. Prinsloo
Sgt S.J. Tregunno

Badly damaged by Flak and eventually ditched 0314 some 75 miles off Flamborough Head.
All were picked up and brought to safety by an RAF ASR HSL.

And that would have been that... exept that the boss wanted to see them... and I mean THE boss!

It was a great opportunity to boost moral and show his men that he actually cared about them...

If Sergeant D Galbraith is Sgnt Daniel Galbraith, then sadly he is the same man that lost his life on the 16th Jan 1945 in a 102 sq Halifax LW179.

Flight Officer Haroll Richard Mock was KIA on the 1st Feb 1945 aboard 76 Squadron's MZ516.
