HX149 DY-J took off at around 8.10pm, on the 21/22nd Jan 1944, from Pocklington on a operation to Magdeburg.

Leaving Magdeburg at 18,500 feet, intercepted by a night-fighter whose fire severely damaged the flying controls and set alight to the starboard wing.

Crash- site not established.

Those killed are buried in the Berlin 1939-45 War Cemetery.
