There are no details of why the plane went down. It crashed at 2.30am near Barvaux (Luxembourg), on the S bank of the Ourthe, 6 km E of Durbuy, Belgium.
A Luftwaffe recovery unit from Deurne could only find one body, but it is likely that several inspections of the crash-site took place as three are buried in Florennes Communal Cemetery;
Sgt Sheppard is buried in Leopoldsburg;
Sgt Tovey was taken to Amsterdam, probably by the Allied Recovery Unit, where he is buried in the Schoonselhof Cemetery.
Sgt W.R.Cole was interned in Camps L6/L4. PoW No.303.
Sgt C.Rushton in Camps L6/357, PoW No.349.
