Edward M. Cooke
Ed Cooke died on 10th November 2013. He served from May 1941 with 102 Squadron at RAF Topcliffe. First as a sergeant WOP/AG in 102 Squadron of Bomber Command, and then after leaving in July 1942, joined 19 OTU and soon after trained as a pilot in Canada in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.
Ed had a prodigious memory of his wartime experiences. His legacy is a unique detailed record of his experiences, widely published across the internet and in many books. Through this, and his easy going manner and sharpness of mind, he made many friends across the world spending hours on Skype and helping families get a better knowledge of lost loved one. He was a very keen supporter of the Association. He emigrated with his family to Canada finally settling in the USA.
