Sqn Ldr William (Bill) Jacobs
Bill Jacobs died on 19th June 2013 aged 93. He served on the squadron from 1938 through to July 1940 when he was wounded (in the bombing raid on Driffield) and posted as an instructor to 19 OTU at RAF Kinloss. He was part of the crew which is believed to have been the first RAF aircraft to drop bombs on an enemy land target in WW II during an attack on Hornum seaplane base at the island Sylt, Germany, on the night of March 19/20, 1940.
