Hi,

My name is Keith Fisher and I am the nephew of Flight Engineer Sergeant Willie Morse who died on 10th July 1943.

Willie was a member of the crew of BB249 DY-Z a Halifax B11 Series 1 (Special).
The aircraft was shot down returmning from a raid on Gelsenkirchen by Hptm August Geiger Staffel Kapitan of 7th Staffel 111 Gruppe NJG 1 who himself was shot down and killed 2 months later.
3 members of the crew of 7 were taken prisoner but sadly my uncle was one of 4 who died and is buried in Florennes Cemetery Belgium.
Steve Kularatne has already furnished me with some interesting details for which I thank him.
I have been unable to obtain a photo of either Willie or BB249 but attach a profile which , I believe, would represent BB249 on the night of the raid and another of Geiger's Bf 110.
I also have the original letters and telegrams sent to Willie's mother from the air ministry and a hand written letter to her from Willie's squadron commander S/Ldr John E.H. Marshall.
I will scan these and attach to a further mailing.

Welcome Keith, good illustrations. Hope you find out more.( Mr Kularatne is Simon not Steve by the way). Look forward to seeing other artefacts relating to these honourable lads.
Regards,
Bill.
