Hello I am a new boy to this Forum and I am researching my relation P/O Geoffrey Bernard Herbert King RAF Volunteer Reserve, who was a pilot with 102 Sqn he was posted to 102 Sqn from 19 OTU on 11 July 1942. He had already been on combat operations with 19 OTU as he flew in a Whitley BD267 UO-K on the Third 1000 bomber raid on Bremen on 25/26 June 1942 and some of his crew on that raid joined him at 102 Sqn and served with him there. On his 16th Operation with 102 Sqn he was killed with all of his crew on 22 November 1942 and they are all buried at Abbeville Cemetery Extension in France.
They were:
P/O Geoffrey Bernard Herbert King – Pilot – RAF Volunteer Reserve - buried Plot 6 Row J Grave 11 - Age 21
Sgt Herbert Thomas Cheetham - Flight Engineer – RAF - buried Plot 6 Row J Grave 10- Age 21
F/O Thomas Henry Follett – Bomb Aimer- RAF – buried Plot 6 Row K Grave 11- Age 22
Sgt John Nicholson – Air Bomber – RAF Volunteer Reserve – buried Plot 6 Row J Grave 4 – Age 21
Sgt Harold Clarkson–Wireless Operator/Air Gunner–RAF Volunteer Reserve–buried Plot 6 Row H Grave 11-
Sgt Derrick Johnson – Air Gunner – RAF Volunteer Reserve – buried Plot 6 Row K Grave 10 – Age 24
Sgt Frederick Ralph Thompson – Air Gunner – RAF Volunteer Reserve – buried Plot 6 Row H Grave 10 – Age 20

I do not have his RAF service record yet, but I have sent off for it. Also I do not know much about his service and training with 19 OTU or when he joined up.

I hope this Forum can help me out with some answers. I have already had a lot of much appreciated help from Neil and from Chris Harper who got me onto this Forum.

Just a thought but would be worth dropping Ed Cooke a PM as I am sure he instructed at 19 OTU
