Hi from Kerry Ireland

Postby firebird » Sun Jul 15, 2012 8:28 pm

Just a few words of introduction,my interest in 102 squadron was as a result of research into my family tree,I found a cousin in America I new nothing about, since our new found relationship, she told me of other family members,I know it sounds odd but somehow the family lost touch with some members, now to the point,I had a cousin named Conrad Thomas Frederick Baldwin who was an observer in 102 squadron,as yet the only dates I have are for june 1941when he sadly lost his life along with the crew
of Whitley Z6510 as I cannot find any tributes to them I contacted Chris ,and with his help we will try to put that right.
Perhaps someone out there will know of his crew
Sgt K P Glassborow
Sgt I P Hunter
Sgt C T F Baldwin
Sgt A C Fletcher
Sgt J R Fraser
P/O S V Alderton
Regards to you all John Sheppard

HI John - Welcome to the Forum. I have him flying as part of this crew on a couple more dates -

10/06/41 Brest against the Scharnhorst and Gneisau

12/06/41 Schwerte - returned due to mechanical difficulty.

Cannot find his arrival on the squadron through so will keep looking.

Hi Neil
Thanks for the info,as I said in my intro, this is all new to me ,my main aim is to supply Chris with as much info as possible to help with the creation of a page for Con and his crew,I felt so sad when I found out about him,we went to Germany to pay our respects, they are all laid to rest together, another of my aims is to show his sister in law that something has been done ,she is 91 years old ,and was a plotter in Epping ,so she knows all about the sacrifices of aircrews.

Dear John
Sorry I have not been able to return to you on here, I have had so much to do on the site and to do with the reunion that I haven’t looked on the forum for weeks and weeks.

Now that you and Neil are in contact and he has given you some details I will make a start on Conrad’s page in the next few days.

If you want to give me a bell at all please do so, great to hear from you

All the best

Chris
