Request for 102 Squadron ORB's

Postby ChrisInBlackpool » Tue Sep 20, 2011 5:00 pm

Thought I would ask if any one has any 102 Squadron ORB's that they have acquired from Kew or anywhere else?

Not bothered what year, or what month, I'm looking for as many as I can get....

Why?? Well have a look here: http://www.archieraf.co.uk/archie/102squadron.html
If you scroll down you will see what Linzee has done with the ones she got, and that's exactly what I want to do for as many as I possibly can.

It's going to be a labour of love, done over many years when I have nothing better to do with myself, but the idea is that I will be able to search a word document for a name, plane number, and instead of having to look through jpg images of hundreds of ORBS, I will be able to find something within seconds.

If you can help please send your scanned ORB's to the Webmaster, and thank you so very much for your time.

I have a crew from around Aug 1943,

Alan Gibson
Richard Mayes (Dickie0
Fredrick Powel (Sandy)
Arthur Evans (Aussie)
Tommy ??
James ??

I have one not so clever photo, which I will post here once I have scanned it.

And one with the ground crw.

Anyone got some late 43 ORB's... no rush... .oh bad news is that this crew did a full tour with 102.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Thanks Chris - had a look at several entries in the ORB, the crew does seem to be consistent - give me a few days and I will compile a list of their Ops(unless you already have?)

Checked a few more Ops - still the same crew, noted that they had a few engine problems, also took a few new pilots on their '2nd Dickie'

Saw picture in Chris Goss' book

Just obtained the ORBs for 1936 - 1940. Very poigniant to read the last entry Peace time entries of unit operations book closed and the entry the next day to say that the unit had been placed on War footing before the first 3 crews flew to the Ruhr 04/09/39 on a Leaflet Drop.
