i found this book quite fascinating and it proved a valuable source of material on the early HALIFAX OPERATIONS with 35 Sq flying from Linton on Ouse where Rivaz flew with LEONARD CHESHIRE .
'One of the outstanding books of the war' claimed the Sunday Express
i used to have an old paperback version - but the 1996 hardback is much easier to handle

Yes; A very good book. I was particularly taken by the kind words offered by Group Captain Cheshire VC in the book's foreword. If ever two men had respect for each other...! A quite gritty account of the air war given the date of its original publication. Some excellent photographs of Whitleys (one seriosly damaged one particularly pertinant to this forum!) and Halifaxes. One of the Halifax pics is dated 18th December 1941: A date that rang a bell for me..
A brilliant book by one of the many brave and skilled young men of 102 whose lives were so tragically cut short during Britain's finest hour.

This is an excellent book, written whilst on operations. There are even mentions of my Great Uncle Arthur which came as a great suprise. This is a very cheap book to obtain and will keep you entertained from start to finish.
